R&D Technician – Processes and Characterization

Alpsemi

Who we are

Build the devices that will power sustainable electrification worldwide!

AlpSemi is an industrial deep tech company building next-generation semiconductor power switches.

We are driving a generational technology shift: enabling the large-scale adoption of Solid-State Circuit Breakers, a breakthrough technology set to transform power protection and distribution, much like LEDs transformed lightning and digital cameras transformed photography.

Our technologies address one of the biggest challenges of our time: enabling sustainable electrification at scale by optimizing power consumption across global markets such as IA data centers, thereby improving access to electricity worldwide.

Job description

As part of the R&D team, you will contribute to the fabrication, evaluation, and improvement of innovative devices in a cleanroom environment. You will work across several technology facilities and partner laboratories, carrying out microfabrication processes and the characterization required to monitor development progress.

You will work closely with the engineers, researchers, and technical partners involved in the projects. The position is based in Grenoble, France, with occasional travail within France and potentially elsewhere in Europe.

Key responsibilities:

  • Carry out cleanroom fabrication operations according to established protocols: photolithography, thin-film deposition, etching, cleaning, and substrate preparation.
  • Characterize materials and devices using electrical, optical, and physical measurements, microscopy, and inspection techniques.
  • Monitor experimental batches and ensure the traceability of operations and results.
  • Analyze experimental results and prepare reports and related tracking documentation, contributing to data interpretation and process improvement.
  • Participate as needed in activities at different sites, laboratories, and technology partners’ facilities.

Job requirements

  • A two- or three-year higher education qualification in physical measurement, microengineering, process engineering, materials science, electronics, or a related field.
  • Some initial experience in a cleanroom environment would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of microfabrication processes and characterization techniques.
  • Proficiency in office software and data processing tools.
  • Attention to detail, ability to work independently, and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Proficiency in technical English is required.

What we offer
